Wilhelm I was a member of the House of Hohenzollern. He worked closely with Otto von Bismarck. Wilhelm I received the Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece. He was married to Augusta of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach and had two children, Frederick III and Princess Louise of Prussia. His grandson, Wilhelm II, later became the German Emperor. Wilhelm I was regent of Prussia from 1858 to 1861.
